Well, it has been a while since i have wrote anything original on this blog, so I thought i would pop in and say hello, and catch all of you up current happenings around the Ranch.
1. It's almost beer time.
As a lot of you know, I have been trying my hand at homebrewing my own beer. Not only to try new flavors, but also to save a few bucks. I have been experimenting around with different methods, and playing with the recipes some to enhance the flavor. One thing that has made a spectacular difference, is moving the keg to a warmer area in the house. We put the last batch, and Oatmeal Stout, up above the stove, in a warmer area, and it has made a big difference in the brew so far. I have had the keg up above the stove now for over 2 weeks, and it is ready to bottle. It has a dark, rich color and it smell's like real beer. The next step is to bottle the brew, and let it sit for another 2 weeks. I will also be adding 1/2 teaspoon of table sugar to the bottle, to help with the fermenting. In 2 weeks we should have a very good sipping beer, to sit in front of the fireplace and enjoy.
2. Getting the Blog going.
As you obviously know, I have been maintaining a daily Blog over at Theron dot com. This has been a real learning experience for me, as I learn to drive traffic to my site, without pissing too many people off, while monetizing it for profit. The advertisements, constantly spamming the URL, and writing on popular subjects has turned into a full time income. I hope that in 6 months to a year, this Blog can be a source of income for me, and all my efforts will have paid off, as I entertain the masses with my sharp wit and commentary. So far, the biggest drive to my site has been when I posted an article about the recent events in Forks, with the young lady that was stabbed. Apparently some people didnt find a lot of humor in me posting funny pictures of the suspect, although percentage wise, only abt 2% out of 250 people didnt like it. Still, it did get a lot of exposure, and brought my hit count up.
3. Setup my office.
I found a really great deal on Craigslist a few weeks back, on an oversize desk, that had my name written all over it (not literally). I had to drive to Sequim to get it, so it turned into a half-day project for us, but it was worth all the effort. This desk has the top space for my office, as well as room for packaging things that I sell on Ebay.
4. Speaking of E-bay.
I have also been clearing a lot of space out of the front living room, by seeling the items on ebay. This has turned out to be a good moneymaker for me. With just a little effort, and starting cost, it has now turned into a part time income for me. I have been really pleased with this effort, and it feels kind of nice to be able to put money into teri's bank account for a change, to help us thru the lean times of the month. The most frustrating part, is waiting for the money to clear from E-bay into my PayPal, and then having to wait another 3-4 days for it to transfer into my bank account. all in all, it seems 2 be taking about 2 weeks from the time I sell an item, until it hits my bank, and I can withdraw it.
Well, that is about it really, not much more going on. We are just the four of us now, which makes teri extremely happy, and we are cutting back expenses as much as possible, even being a bit "anal" about it at times. Things like shutting down computers at night, or when you leave the room for an extended period, shutting off lights and TV's at night, running the heating system a bit lower at 62d instead of 68-70d, shutting the heat off during the day, keeping doors closed etc etc. We have even thought about partitioning the house off a bit, so that we dont have to heat such a large area at once, but not sure how we could do that without itt looking tacky.
